Synopsis

At a houseparty given by the district attorney, the lights are extinguished following the theft of a valuable diamond, and he is later found murdered. The coroner arrives to investigate and discovers Ruth Whitman, the district attorney's ward, hidden in a large clock, clutching the missing gem. She claims that she was pushed in; and as he prepares to take everyone's fingerprints, the lights are again turned off. The coroner is attacked by an armored figure, who is revealed to be the dead man's deaf and dumb valet. He then apparently confesses to the crime but is later himself found murdered. The coroner accuses the girl but by accident discovers the real killer--the deputy assistant attorney.
