A Hollywood movie crew descends on a small North Carolina college town to make a film about the Revolutionary War which is based on a novel by the town's historical expert, Michael Burgess (Alan Alda). Naturally, the filming does not go smoothly. Written and directed by Alan Alda and featuring silent era actress Lillian Gish in her 105th film.
