Synopsis

Nola Day, who has been living in the East, learns that her father has died after leaving his estate to her, under the custodianship of her uncle, Moose Walters. When Moose brags about his new position at the Happy Gal Saloon, he is overheard by owner Bill Larsen, who has his henchmen cold-bloodedly kill Moose. Larsen then goes to meet Nola, posing as her uncle, whom she has not seen since childhood. Larsen makes an attempt on Nola's life by setting her buckboard loose during a hold-up staged by his men, but she is saved by Jack Lane and his friend Tip, who happen to be riding by. As Jack gets to know Nola and her "uncle," he senses that Larsen is not the real Moose, but Nola defends him. Thinking that her uncle has her best interest at heart, Nola signs a power of attorney over to Larsen. When Larsen catches Jack trying to steal the document, Nola is furious over Jack's interference. A short time later, Larsen responds after hearing his real name called, and Jack reports the fact to his friend Loma, an Indian whose life he once saved. Loma tells Jack that Larsen is the man who had killed his brother, then placed the blame on Loma. Jack then goes to the saloon and gives Larsen one hour to leave town. Jack and Loma then meet Tip, who has been shot by Larsen's gang, and reveals that Nola has been kidnapped by Larsen, who is forcing her to sign all of her property over to him. Jack and Loma then go after the gang. Jack is able to expose Larsen and rescue Nola. The grateful Nola then kisses Jack.

Notes

Variety incorrectly attributes the photography to sound engineer Glen Glenn. An unidentified note in the AMPAS library file on the film dated June 6, 1938 lists the release date as April 28, 1938, but this has not been confirmed in any other source. Modern sources add Wally West, Carl Matthews, Blackjack Ward, Oscar Gahan, George Morrell, Glen Strange, Slim Whitaker, Art Dillard, Carleton Young and Sherry Tansey to the cast.
