Synopsis
Garry King is Pacific University's football hero and receives a standing ovation during the last game of the season. Scheming Willie Walsh, who runs the Athletic Association, arranges for Garry to make paid public endorsements, and instead of finishing school, Garry becomes a bond salesman. Heiress Gloria Neuchard is an admirer of Garry and seduces him into her glamorous lifestyle, prompting him to ignore his girl friend, Ellen Steffens. Although Garry had planned to open a construction firm with his best friend, Steve Kelly, he merely deposits money into their joint account. Soon Garry becomes mired in debt because of his extravagant lifestyle, and his situation becomes worse when he draws from his joint account so he can gamble. Garry loses his job, while his younger brother Bob, a freshman football player, gains popularity. Desperate, Garry signs onto a professional team through Willie, but when he refuses to throw a game, he is expelled. Finally humbled, Garry seeks honest employment from Steve, who although he is resentful, hires Garry for menial work. Garry proves himself again and finally works with Steve as his partner. In the meantime, Bob has been placed on the 1931 All America team, and although he marries Betty Poe, has begun associating with Gloria. When Willie books a game between Bob's team and an All Star team, Garry and Steve are recruited for the All Stars, which is headed by their former coach, Chick Knipe. Repulsed by Garry's previous behavior, Knipe keeps him on the bench initially, until Steve convinces him to let Garry play in the second half. Garry realizes this is his chance to humble Bob back into a normal life, and defeats all of Bob's plays until Bob is pulled out of the game for fighting. The All Stars win, and later, Bob recognizes Garry's efforts and reunites with his wife, while Garry reunites with Ellen.

The cast included dozens of college football players and coaches. In addition, five football coaches who comprised the "All-American Board of Football" appeared in the film: W. A. Alexander of Georgia Tech; Jesse C. Harper of Notre Dame; Eddie Casey of Harvard; Glenn S. "Pop" Warner of Stanford. According to the Variety review, scenes of actual football games were spliced into the film. News items in Hollywood Reporter report that the film was previewed for sportswriters across the country, including one showing at a convention at the Commodore Hotel in New York.
