Biography

George Meader was an accomplished actor who appeared in a variety of films throughout his Hollywood career. Meader began his acting career with roles in such films as "Dancing on a Dime" (1940), "Gambling on the High Seas" (1940) and the Adolphe Menjou comedy "Father Takes a Wife" (1941). He also appeared in "Man-Made Monster" (1941) and the Brian Donlevy crime feature "The Glass Key...

Biography

George Meader was an accomplished actor who appeared in a variety of films throughout his Hollywood career. Meader began his acting career with roles in such films as "Dancing on a Dime" (1940), "Gambling on the High Seas" (1940) and the Adolphe Menjou comedy "Father Takes a Wife" (1941). He also appeared in "Man-Made Monster" (1941) and the Brian Donlevy crime feature "The Glass Key" (1942). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in the dramatic adaptation "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" (1945) with Dorothy McGuire, "Boston Blackie Booked on Suspicion" (1945) and "Crossfire" (1947) with Robert Young. He also appeared in "Too Many Winners" (1947) and "On the Town" (1949). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Humphrey Bogart crime picture "The Enforcer" (1951), the Ginger Rogers comedy "The Groom Wore Spurs" (1951) and the musical "She's Working Her Way Through College" (1952) with Virginia Mayo. He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "My Little Margie" (CBS, 1951-55). Meader last acted in the dramatic adaptation "The Young Lions" (1958) with Marlon Brando. Meader passed away in December 1963 at the age of 75.
