Synopsis

Tom is a country doctor who travels from town to town with his friend Mike, an Italian dentist, and young Jimmy Allan, whose father is missing. Tom traces Jimmy's father to Elkhorn, where outside the town they discover the bodies of two bandits who killed each other. A sheriff's posse believes that Tom is responsible for the deaths of the bandits, and he is hailed a hero by the townspeople. This status provides him with an introduction to banker Ross and his lovely daughter Betty, who reveals that the stolen money he recovered from the bandits was the fee the local ranchers owe Stone for their water rights. Stone, who purportedly owns the lake that Allan once owned, continues to raise water fees. One evening, Tom is called to treat Jimmy's father, who has turned up seriously injured. The same evening, Tom is framed for a robbery, but clears his name when he once again recovers the stolen money. Tom then proves that Stone tried to kill Allan, the rightful owner of the land that incorporates the lake, in order to raise water rates so high that he could drive out the ranchers and purchase the land cheaply. Stone and his gang are arrested, and Tom arranges for free water use by all ranchers by dynamiting an area to bring a stream above the ground. Jimmy is reunited with his father, and Tom marries Betty.
