Synopsis

Professor Logan, a retired university professor, conducts a symposium on marriage and the sexual mores described in the Kinsey Reports. As he lectures, various members of the audience recall individual experiences. HONEYMOON: Hollister is worried about the premarital sexual relations he had with his wife but discovers on his honeymoon that they will have no effect on his marriage. HOMECOMING: Advertising executive Julia Bradley dreads her husband's homecoming because of a liaison she had with a fellow account executive on New Year's Eve. By telling her husband the truth, however, she saves her marriage. THE DIVORCÉE: Attractive divorcée Margaret Gaylord is shunned by her women friends who fear that she might steal their husbands. She hopes that Sam Tooray will end her loneliness by marrying her, but he turns out to be just another man looking for a good time. AVERAGE MAN: Mr. Kingsley makes a date with a former school friend when he learns that all average men have extramarital affairs, but the romance is short-lived upon his discovery that she is a plump grandmother interested only in getting home to babysit for her daughter. BABY: Young Peggy Cannon's pregnancy causes her to worry so much about her husband's lack of interest in children that she goes to an abortionist, even though she is unable to go through with the operation. Instead of being upset by his approaching fatherhood, however, her husband is delighted with the news. After the symposium, Professor Logan realizes that no one in the discussion has mentioned love, the most important ingredient in a successful marriage.
