Synopsis

If Aiken Bunyon can raise $1,000, he will be able to buy a partnership in the garage in which he works as a mechanic. When the lightweight boxing champion makes a pass at Aiken's girl, Molly, Aiken tries ineffectually to fight him; and Jim Canby, a local fight promotor who witnesses the incident, immediately signs up Bunyon as a fighter, thinking to use his lack of experience as comic effect in the ring. Bunyon wins his first fight and then agrees to fight the lightweight champ in a comedy bout, getting $200 for each round that he can stay in the ring. Bunyon fights with great spirit but is badly beaten and can last only four rounds. After the fight, however, the champ makes another pass at Molly, and Bunyon then gives him the drubbing of his life. Impressed by Bunyon's grit and determination, Canby gives Bunyon a full thousand dollars, and Molly and Aiken make plans for their future.
