Synopsis

Hsü Hsien falls in love with Pai Niang, a lovely immortal who is the incarnation of a white snake. Accompanied by Panda and a raccoon named Mimi, they travel across the countryside of ancient China. Fa Hai, a wizard who knows of Pai Niang's transformation, tries to break up the lovers by drowning them in the Yangtze River; after that attempt fails, he arranges for Hsü Hsien's arrest on a robbery charge. The boy is exiled, but Panda and Mimi help him escape. Later Hsü Hsien falls from a precipice while chasing Pai Niang's shadow and is killed. To bring Hsü Hsien back to life, Pai Niang sacrifices her immortality to the dragon god, and after being rescued during a storm at sea, the lovers are reunited.
