Synopsis

Special based on the Scholastic book series that tells fictional stories about heroic young women during important periods in American history. Caty, a 16-year-old Quaker girl living in 1763 Delaware, and her younger brother Thomas are kidnapped by Lenape Indians, forcing her into a frightening new world. With her diary as her only solace, Caty records her feelings of terror, confusion and anger as she is trust into a foreign world filled with strange people, peculiar sounds and unfamiliar customs. But, as the Lenape adopt Caty into their tribe, her sharp-tongued criticism of the "savages" around her gradually turns to respect and appreciation. Caty learns Lenape customs, including the sacred belief in the Great Spirit that guides them. Caty ultimately learns that she has opened up her heart to those she once considered different from herself, and eventually falls in love with one of the Lenapes.
