Synopsis

An Episcopalian priest experiences a crisis of faith until a life-altering event makes him believe he witnessed a miracle. Reverend Joe Cass questions his faith and his ability to make a difference in the lives of his parishioners and his family, which includes teenage son David, 5-year-old daughter Aimie, 17-year-old daughter Joyce and wife Anne. When Joe, also a volunteer fireman, saves young Ezequiel from a raging fire, he is aided by an unknown fireman who Ezequiel claims was Jesus. The miracle inspires headlines and packs Sunday services. Joe explains that he is pleased with the outpouring of faith but he believes the other fireman was his modest friend Ernie. As Joe ponders the mysterious event, he notices the everyday miracles in his own life and begins to accept the miracle of the unknown fireman.
