Before the debut of Turner Classic Movies in 1994, the go-to place for the best programming related to Hollywood's golden years was sister channel Turner Network Television. In addition to airing the best from the MGM library, TNT also brought viewers regular specials on the film capital's greatest pictures and its most beloved stars. One of the best was this tribute to all-American leading man Henry Fonda by his daughter, Jane. Using film clips and rare behind-the scenes footage, she offers a personal glimpse at one of the screen's greatest stars, including insightful commentary on his character and his working methods. Among the many great films highlighted are The Grapes of Wrath (1940), The Lady Eve (1941), The Ox-Bow Incident (1943), My Darling Clementine (1946), Mister Roberts (1955), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), Wanda Nevada (1979), directed by Peter Fonda, Fonda's Oscar®-winning performance in On Golden Pond (1981) and his personal favorite of all his films, 12 Angry Men (1957). Additional insights are provided by Peter Fonda, the elder Fonda's last wife, Shirlee Fonda, close friend James Stewart, director Sidney Lumet and Fonda's final leading lady, Katharine Hepburn.
