Donald Duck takes on an autobiographical role for his 12th team-up with animated chipmunks Chip 'n' Dale. This time out the bone of contention is Donald's miniature train set. He's constructing it out of doors, but decides Chip 'n' Dale's tree home isn't the right scale for his project, so he cuts it down. What follows are a series of slapstick antics as Chip 'n' Dale try to get their tree back and, failing that, move into one of the tiny houses along the railroad tracks. Walt Disney was himself a fan of trains, having grown up in Missouri on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe line. When he moved his family to a new home in Holmby Hills, he built his own railroad, dubbed the Lille Belle, on the property. In the film, not only does Donald share Disney's passion for trains, but the station he's created is called Canyonville, the same as the station in Disney's private train set. Eventually, Disney retired his miniature train after his guest had a few too many accidents on it, but his love affair with rail travel lives on in this inspired short.
