Running on Empty

Danny (River Phoenix), teen son of fugitive radicals, under an assumed name, joins his first class at his new school where music teacher Phillips (Ed Crowley) has played a selection of funk, followed by Beethoven, and is encouraged to comment, in Sidney Lumet’s Running On Empty, 1988.

Danny and Harry (River Phoenix, Jonas Abry) meet their parents (Judd Hirsch, Christine Lahti) at what must be a fail-safe rendezvous, whereupon we learn that the cars outside their house were Feds, and they’re an experienced fugitive radical family, in Sidney Lumet’s Running On Empty, 1988.
