Running on Empty

Talented musician Danny (River Phoenix), new in town, as is often the case because he’s the son of fugitive radicals, lets himself into the home of his new piano teacher, eventually getting the attention of his daughter Lorna (Martha Plimpton), in Sidney Lumet’s Running On Empty, 1988.
