The newsreader E.V.H. Emmett would have been familiar to any Britons watching this unbridled propaganda narrative, which continues at intervals throughout the film, opening The Lion Has Wings, 1940, directing credit shared by Michael Powell, Brian Desmond Hurst and Adrian Brunel.
