Ambitious Dion O’Leary (Tyrone Power), flush from the race track, is enthralled by entertainer Belle (Alice Faye), at the saloon run by Warren (Brian Donlevy), so he leaps when she takes bids for a charity act, and isn’t easily discouraged, in 20th-Century Fox’s In Old Chicago, 1938.

Lucky for the O’Leary brothers (Don Ameche as prosecutor Jack, Tyrone Power as political boss Dion) as it turns out the witness is married to the accused, eliminating their conflict and allowing a cordial introduction to Dion’s gal Belle (Alice Faye), in the disaster-epic In Old Chicago, 1938.

Having arrived as kids in the prologue, it’s now 1867 and Don Ameche appears as lawyer Jack O’Leary, with mom Molly (Alice Brady) at her thriving laundry, joined by Tyrone Power as rakish Dion, Andy Devine his sidekick Pickle, dreaming big, in 20th-Century Fox’s In Old Chicago, 1938.

October, 1871, and if you hadn’t realized, Alice Brady is named O’Leary for a reason, which becomes clear when her cow kicks over a lantern in the shed, the disaster begun, Tyrone Power her political operative son who thinks his brother the mayor is to blame, in In Old Chicago, 1938.
