Scary Movie

Nerdy Warren (future Deadwood star John Hawkes) on line for the fun-house with frisky pals Brad and Shelley (Jason Waller, Virginia Pratt), meets oddball Barbara (Suzanne Aldrich), with a quick cut-away to the mass murderer (Lee Gettys) being transferred to a nearby looney bin, early in Scary Movie, 1991.

After an unrelated opening anecdote suggesting horror, the original low-rent Austin, Texas thriller brings us Halloween scenes and a haunted fun-house under construction, Ev Lunning the sheriff, Mark Voges, a credited co-writer, the carpenter Jerry, 22-year old Daniel Erickson directing, Scary Movie, 1991, with a Roky Erickson song briefly in the background.

Not a spoiler in that it begins after the action, director Daniel Erickson rolls end credits with a 1981 original song by fellow-Austinite Roky Erickson (of 13th Floor Elevators fame), named for the 1943 Val Lewton RKO classic, wrapping up the quirky Texas indy Scary Movie, 1991.
