Director John Sturges’ opens his first wide-screen, color Western, William Holden as harsh Union Capt. Roper, dragging Confederate prisoner Bailey (John Lupton) who escaped from an Arizona stockade, then consulting with Col. Owens (Carl Benton Reid), in Escape From Fort Bravo, 1953, co-starring Eleanor Parker and John Forsythe.
