Opening and a rarity, though screen depictions of Arthur Conan Doyle's detective were already common, few have begun by introducing the villain Moriarty (Gustav Von Seyffertitz), with impressive London location shots, in the landmark John Barrymore version of Sherlock Holmes, 1922.
