Following a childhood prologue, now in the 1890's Midwest, Parris (Robert Cummings) meets one-time playmate Cassie (Betty Field), who grew up mostly isolated by her father Dr. Tower (Claude Rains), with whom he's beginning medical studies, in Kings Row, 1942.
