Joining the number midway, headliner Sally (Rita Hayworth) performing a song in fact written by Paul Dresser, the brother of the novelist Theodore Dreiser, played here by Victor Mature, who's come to New York seeking redress, James Gleason his agent, in My Gal Sal, 1942.

Traveling minstrel Paul (Victor Mature) gets blamed for the scam run by a con man he just met, later rescued by Carole Landis as showgirl Mae, introduced in a manner usually reserved for leading ladies (in this instance Rita Hayworth, coming soon) early in My Gal Sal, 1942.
