Joining director King Vidor's opening, star Marion Davies (as "Peggy Pepper") and her father the colonel (Dell Henderson) arrive in Hollywood, spying the real John Gilbert entering the fictional "Mammoth" Studios, in the hit comedy Show People, 1928, also starring William Haines.

New comedy star Peggy Pepper (Marion Davies), struggling in her first dramatic picture, is persuaded by leading man Andre (Paul Ralli) that she needs to meet better people, including Louella Parsons, columnist for the newspaper chain run by Davies' consort William Randolph Hearst, in Show People, 1928.
