The Zodiac Killer

Trucker Grover (Bob Jones), now in a preposterous hairpiece, has persuaded mailman Jerry (Hal Reed) to join him at a plenty-weird singles bar, and it’s not apparent why this is inter-cut with Judd and Marilyn (Richard Styles, Gloria Gunn) becoming victims of the villain, in the low-budget true-crime thriller The Zodiac Killer, 1971.

The reasonably atmospheric opening of the extreme low-budget thriller based on the then-contemporary and (still) unsolved “Zodiac” murders in Northern California, with a genuine comment from reporter Paul Avery (played by Robert Downey Jr. in Zodiac, 2007), from The Zodiac Killer, 1971.

Our introduction to mailman Jerry (Hal Reed), who meets trucker Grover (Bob Jones), whom we know has anger issues, and the nasty Mrs. Crocker (Bertha Dahl), with nobody as yet connected to the two murders we’ve seen on screen, in the low-budget current-crime thriller The Zodiac Killer, 1971.
