The Housemaid

The oddly intense opening, it’s position in the coming narrative not quite clear, Korean piano teacher Kim (Kim Jin-kyu) and his wife (Ju Jeung-nyeo) marvel over a newspaper story, their children at play, from the celebrated restoration of writer-director-producer Kim Ki-young’s The Housemaid, 1960.

Music teacher Kim (Kim Jin-ku) and family at home, Ju Jeung-nyeo his wife, when devious Miss Cho (Um Aeng-ran), from the factory where he works, who has secret designs on him, appears to take up his offer for private piano lessons, in Kim Ki-young’s provocative The Housemaid, 1960.

Korean factory-girl Miss Cho (Um Aeng-ran), who secretly lusts after Kim (Kim Jin-ku), her music teacher from work, arrives for her first private piano lesson, his overworked wife (Ju Jeung-nyeo) and troublesome kids in the background, in writer-director Kim Ki-Young’s The Housemaid, 1960.

Scheming Miss Cho (Um Aeng-ran) from the factory arrives for her piano lesson with Kim (Kim Jin-ku), visiting with his exhausted wife (Ju Jeung-nyeo) and kids and presenting her candidate (Lee Eun-shim, title character) for the domestic position, in director Kim Ki-Young’s The Housemaid, 1960.
