We know already that Opie (Louis Calhern) is a cattle baron and the estranged father of underpaid college professor Joe (Van Johnson) but we learn here, as he visits Maine, that he hasn't yet met his pregnant daughter in-law Janet Leigh (title character), in Confidentially Connie, 1953.

Introduced in the waiting room, Janet Leigh (title character) dreams of meat while visiting the obstetrician (Robert Burton) then, with pal Phyllis (Marilyn Erskine) decides that college professor's wives can afford to visit the butcher (Walter Slezak), early in Confidentially Connie, 1953.
