1965: first book published: ACADEMY AWARDS ILLUSTRATED (foreword by Bette Davis).

1977: first work on television (semi-regular appearances on the syndicated THE DINAH SHORE SHOW (talk show); Began as a reporter at THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

1978 - 50 GOLDEN YEARS OF OSCAR published (Literary Guild selection; winner of 1979 National Film Book award)

1982: began writing Hollywood Reporter's daily RAMBLING REPORTER column. Began on KTTV Channel 11 in Los Angeles as nightly entertainment reporter and film reviewer (1982-86).

1987: Began a year's run on daily CBS MORNING PROGRAM, originating from New York (daily entertainment reports).

1988: 60 YEARS OF THE OSCAR published (updated editionsin 1993, 1998 and 2003).

1994: began as primetime host of TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES.

2005: first ROBERT OSBORNE'S CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL in Athens, GA. (guests have included Jane Powell, Parker Posey, Maximilian Schell, Louise Fletcher, Patricia Neal, Mickey Rooney, Roger Mayer, Jean Firstenberg, Pia Lindstrom, Ann Rutherford).

2006 - received "Walk of Fame" star on Vine Street. Became official red carpet greeter for the AMPA&S at the Academy Awards. Hosted 90th birthday salute to Olivia de Havilland at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn theatre, Beverly Hills.

2007: received award at 1st Bryn Mawr Film Festival in Pennsylvania. Received award at San Francisco Silent Film Festival, San Francisco, California.
