Synopsis

Mervin, a banker in a small town, successfully forbids his daughter, Irene, to marry John Harrison, the office boy in his bank. Years pass; John becomes the mayor, and Irene marries another, going abroad to live. After the death of her husband, she returns to her hometown, accompanied by her flapper daughter, Audrey. Audrey immediately falls in love with Harrison's son, Steve, and Irene, not liking the way Harrison is running the town, decides to run for mayor herself. Harrison instructs his police force to find something with which to discredit Irene, and unable to find anything, they discredit Audrey instead. Harrison straightens out the scandal, and Irene decides that she would rather be a mayor's wife than a mayor.
