Synopsis

When his father cuts him off financially, spoiled young Mark Watson manages to get himself a scholarship to Harvard by lying on his application about his race and pretending to be an African-American. Mark utilizes bronzing pills, changes his hairstyle, and manages to pass himself off as a person of color, feeling cocky about the ruse. But he soon begins to experience racism at the largely white institution, and when he gets romantically involved with an African-American girl, he begins to feel guilty about what he has done.
