Synopsis

Eddie Collins, a smalltown boy, gets a job as census taker in New York City. On a call he meets Sally Malone, a Fifth Avenue model who is attracted to him because of his conservative demeanor with women. He takes an immediate dislike to William Tully, in whom he senses a basic dishonesty. Molly, Sally's sister, is married to John Shannon, a loving but jobless husband; and consequently Molly calls on her sister to ask for a loan and makes an impression on Tully, who arranges a rendezvous with her. Through a fellow worker Eddie learns that Tully is a former Chicago robber; meanwhile, John blames Sally for Molly's reprehensible behavior, but all ends well as Eddie arrives at Tully's apartment with the police and exposes him. With the reward money, he is able to buy a country newspaper and settle down with Sally.
