One Man Justice
Cast & Crew
Soon after riding into Mesa, Arizona, where the ranch that he just sold is located, Larry Clarke is mistaken for a man named Crockett. After being advised by a bartender to pretend that he is Ted Crockett, a man who supposedly has been dead for five years, he consents to impersonate Crockett in order to help put an end to the activities of cattle rustler Red Grindy and his henchmen. Larry fools both Grindy and Sheriff Ben Adams into believing that he is Crockett. He also fools Crockett's wife Mary when he shows up at Crockett's ranch, but he eventually reveals his true identity to her. Larry soon discovers that Mary's ranch hands, with the exception of Neal King, are all in the employ of Grindy, and fires them. He then takes over control of the ranch with Mary's consent. When Neal happens upon some of Grindy's henchmen branding a stolen calf, a gun battle ensues and Neal is shot. The wounded Neal eventually makes his way to the ranchhouse, where he tells Larry that one of Grindy's men, Joe Craig, shot him. Larry goes after Joe and, after finding him, places him in the custody of the sheriff. That night, Grindy's men spring Joe from his jail cell and initiate a campaign of terror throughout the region. When the sheriff asks Larry's help in driving out the rustlers, he decides to call his friends in Texas and form a posse. Once the posse is assembled, the Texas gunmen drive Grindy's men out of town, much to the surprise of Grindy, who has just returned from an out-of-town trip. Angered by the sight, Grindy punches Larry and accuses him of imposture. Despite Grindy's discovery, Larry continues to insist that he is Ted Crockett and challenges Grindy to a duel to protect his honor. The duel, which is to take place at Grindy's saloon, is a setup, as the bartender plans to aid Grindy. Larry, however, enters the saloon shooting and fires at Grindy and the bartender. When Larry is struck in the head by a bullet, he receives a minor head injury, which cures him of amnesia and makes him realize that he really is Ted Crockett. Ted and Mary are then reunited.
