Synopsis

Singer Nona Brooks is stranded at an African jungle hotel because she has lost her agent and her passport. Hotel owner Simmons hires her, but unknown to Nona, he is working with German agents Grozman and Belts, who are withholding her passport. When a British agent comes to the hotel, Simmons orders Nona to distract him with a song while he is robbed of his papers. The agent is stabbed to death when Simmons turns out the lights and Nona runs from the hotel. She wanders through the jungle until she encounters paleontologist Larry Mason and his assistant, Jefferson Jones. Larry, who was previously warned by Simmons about Nona's sullied reputation, agrees to protect her for the night, but insists that she return to town the next day. The Nazi spies soon learn that the British agent's papers are in Nona's jacket and they then murder Simmons. In the morning, Larry is more sympathetic to Nona and hides her from Grozman, Belts and the British constables. Larry breaks camp to elude the police, but his African helpers are killed by tribesmen working for the German spies. Larry, Nona and Jeff then take refuge in a cave filled with ancient human skeletons and hide the British agent's papers in a human skull. They are soon taken hostage by the hostile African tribe, but Jeff breaks free with the help of a native woman who has fallen in love with him. When he encounters the tribal chief, the two men discover that they are lodge brothers, and the Oxford-educated chief frees Larry and Nona. Grozman and Belts attempt a recapture, but Larry overpowers them with the help of the African chief, who promises that the spies will be brought to justice. Having fallen in love through their difficulties, Larry and Nona kiss.
