Synopsis

Kedge Darvis, a notorious Boston gangster, goes into hiding with his thugs in a small town in Idaho. Unaware of his identity, the town welcomes him as a possible investor. Sue Vancey, who believes in modernization, invites Darvis to stay at her ranch. Meanwhile, Sue's suitor, Brad Farley, becomes discouraged after she rejects him due to his traditionalist cowboy attitude. Brad's sidekick, Stub Wallace, offers Brad dating advice but to no avail. Later, when elderly miner "Strike" Jackson actually finds gold on Sue's ranch, Darvis is quick to capitalize on the situation. He kills Strike and the sheriff, and holds the ranch hands captive. As he imports gang members from the city, the town slowly comes under Darvis' rule. Tack Gillup, foreman of Sue's ranch, escapes and finds Brad rounding up wild horses. Brad and his men ride into town and kill the gangsters in a gunfight. Darvis, who has exhausted the mine, leaves a note threatening to kill Sue and her feisty housekeeper, Hampsey Dell, if anyone tries to thwart his escape. Brad and Stub sneak up on the rest of the hoodlums in a canyon by riding in with a herd of wild mustangs. After a struggle with Brad, Darvis falls to his death from a high cliff, and most of the gangsters die in a landslide. Glad to see Brad, Sue tells him to stay just as he is, and Stub and Hampsey kiss.
