Two rustlers drive stolen cattle to the abandoned Hidden Valley ranch owned by Dudley Trenton, where they will stay until they are sold to buyers in Mexico. When a stranger approaches the ranch, Ed Dawson, the head of the rustlers, kills him, knowing that the death will be blamed on the "ghost" of Hidden Valley. Meanwhile, in town, cowboys Fuzzy Q. Jones and Billy Carson wait for Henry Trenton, the English son of their old friend Dudley, who is coming to the West from Oxford to stay at his late father's ranch. When Henry arrives, Dawson makes fun of his clothes and goads him into a fight, hoping to discourage him from staying in town, but Billy intervenes and saves Henry from a beating. Later, Fuzzy and Billy drive Henry and his butler Tweedle to the ranch. Despite his fear of ghosts, Fuzzy spends the night there, along with Billy. The next morning, they find a footprint outside the house and, shortly after, dodge shots. Later, Dawson's niece Kaye, who lives nearby, drops in to welcome the newcomers and advises Henry to wear simpler clothes. In the meantime, Dawson's boss Arnold suggests to Dawson that he kill Henry, and Dawson, who is becoming increasingly upset by all the killing, decides to end his rustling operation. When Fuzzy and Billy see cattle tracks on the ranch, they conclude that the rustlers have been hiding stolen cattle at the ranch. Later, Billy recognizes Arnold as a member of a gang which was run out of Cheyenne by vigilantes and hurries back to Hidden Valley to warn the others to expect trouble. Henry escorts Kaye home and is introduced to Dawson, whom he recognizes as the man who attacked him in town. Later Kaye tells her uncle that she is in love with Henry and is worried about his safety. When he leaves the Dawsons, Henry is chased by the gang and a gunfight ensues. The gang outnumbers Henry and Billy and kidnaps them. Arnold then tries to force Henry to sign a bill of sale for the ranch. Dawson bargains to save Henry's life, but Arnold announces that he is taking over the gang and kills Dawson. In the confusion, Fuzzy sneaks up from outside and draws the gang's fire, while Billy helps Henry escape. Arnold then decides to frame Billy for Dawson's murder, but Billy is able to prove that Arnold, whose real name is Jim Slade, is the real killer. Once the rustlers are captured and the ranch is safe, Henry and Kaye get married.
