Synopsis
This filmed presentation of a performance by the San Francisco-based comedy troupe The Committee is comprised of 19 satiric skits and blackouts. Following an introduction by troupe member Peter Bonerz, the highlights include a young man's frantic effort to avoid the draft by behaving like a frog; a "talking" elevator that argues with its occupants; a generation gap dispute between a hostile cyclist and a defensive old man; two housewives enjoying a break in their daily routine by smoking marijuana instead of drinking coffee; a takeoff on television commercials; the effect of Dale Carnegie on dating behavior; a TV audience applause warm-up session; a symphony concert in which the musicians vocally imitate orchestral instruments; an illustration of hypocrisy in the police force; a TV giveaway show called "Greed," in which the participants assualt each other in the hope of winning prizes; a would-be Casanova's disastrous attempt to be suave while lighting a girl's cigarette; a white man posing as a black in order to understand the Negro's problems in contemporary society; a spoof of a well-known California car dealer who does his own television commercials; a girl on a blind date pretending that she actually is blind in order to test her date's sexual curiosity; and the entire company performing "The Star Spangled Banner."
