Synopsis

Patty Smith is raped by three hoodlums on a Los Angeles beach. Young, inexperienced, and away from her Kansas home, she neglects to inform the proper authorities. Finding herself pregnant, she consults Dr. Miller, who explains that it is legally impossible for him to abort her pregnancy. She seeks advice from a priest, Father O'Brian, who criticizes her desire not to have the baby. Another physician, Dr. Fridden, offers to perform the abortion, but his price of $600 is impossible for Patty to meet. As her condition becomes apparent, most of her friends desert her. In desperation, she goes to the contact man of an abortion ring. He tells her that the operation can be arranged for $200, and, after Patty agrees to pay the price, the abortion is performed in a massage parlor. Soon afterwards, Patty is rushed to a hospital suffering great pain, and she dies. The rapists and the abortion ring members are apprehended by the police through information supplied by Patty's roommate, Mary.
