Cast & Crew
Gene and Frog Millhouse are riding the rodeo circuit when they meet Southerners Caroline Stanhope and her grandfather, who are hoping to win some much needed money in order to pay the taxes owed on their plantation. Their hopes turn into a nightmare, however, when Caroline's horse Valdena is injured and is therefore unable to enter the contest. To make matters worse, Stanhope loses $1,000 to some gamblers and offers them Valdena as his only asset. When the gamblers refuse, Gene gives Stanhope his rodeo winnings for the horse so that the old man can settle his debt. This leads Caroline to think that Gene is trying to cheat her grandfather, and consequently, when Stanhope gets drunk, Caroline packs both him and Valdena into their car and returns home. Protecting his investment, Gene follows them, and upon arriving at the Stanhope plantation, he discovers that the Stanhopes and their neighbors are in danger of losing their land for non-payment of back taxes. Unknown to the planters, a new timber process has been developed that will turn their property into valuable timber land. Henry Wheeler, the only prosperous planter in the county, is in league with Barrett, a representative from the lumber company, to cheat them out of their land. To earn enough money to pay the back taxes, Gene decides to enter Valdena in a steeplejack race. When Wheeler deliberately then fouls the horse, Gene becomes suspicious of his motives. Forcing the truth from Wheeler, Gene urges the planters to sell the lumber themselves. When Wheeler and Barrett try to thwart the planters by holding up the lumberjacks so that they cannot meet the terms of their contract, Gene sends for his cowboy friends to come and work as lumberjacks, thus saving the planters' land.
