Synopsis

In 1841, near Monterey, California, the people are uniting to break from Mexican rule and seek admission to the United States. Collaborator Don Francisco leads Mexican troops in terrorizing the region while Don Michael, his half brother from Los Angeles, heads the revolutionaries. Carlotta, Don Francisco's mistress, collaborates with the revolutionaries and then kills herself. Don Francisco is killed by one of his own men after the Mexicans are defeated, leaving his fiancée, Marianna De La Rosa, an heiress from a neighboring estate, free to marry Don "Mike" who now takes rightful possession of his father's lands.
