Synopsis

When motorcyclist Angel rescues his friend Shotgun from a brawl with members of a rival gang, Shotgun promises to return the favor some day. To begin a new life, however, Angel quits his gang and sets out on a cross-country tour. He stops at a gas station and sees Merilee, a member of a local commune, being harassed by a group of citizens who are trying to force the hippies to leave the area. Accompanying her back to the commune, he meets Tremaine, the pacifist leader, who invites him to stay. Later, when townspeople try to destroy the hippies' crops with their dune buggies, Angel accidentally hits one of the drivers with a pitchfork, thus intensifying the feud. Consequently, Tremaine asks Angel to enlist the aid of his old gang to defend the commune, and Angel reluctantly agrees. Shotgun and the gang arrive, but there is immediate friction between the two groups until the townspeople finally attack; the gang and the commune join forces to drive them away, but Tremaine is killed during the fighting.
