Synopsis

Queen Cleopatra is determined to spend a night with Antony before he goes into battle, although she has been advised against leaving the palace. A blonde double found at the slave market poses as the queen while Cleopatra slips out to meet Antony. Meanwhile, a new guard, who is determined to spend the night with Cleopatra, enters the palace with a scarab ring--the twin of which is owned by Cleopatra. He gains entrance to Cleopatra's bedroom, and, mistaking the double for the queen, he makes love to her. The queen returns soon after the guard's departure and hides the slave in the dungeon to conceal her secret. Antony warns Cleopatra about a conspiracy against her and promises to send the leader to her the following night. Handing her scarab ring to Antony, she tells him to make the conspirator wear it so that she can identify him. When the guard returns to the palace, his ring causes him to be mistaken for the conspirator. In an attempt to seduce him and learn his secrets, Cleopatra gets drunk and the guard learns of the double. The real conspirator is apprehended and brought to the palace, while the guard rescues the slave girl from the dungeon and the two escape.
