Unjustly left to take the blame for a huge financial swindle, Bart Lanigan jumps bail, flees the United States, and follows his betrayer, Leonard Weston, to Finland. In Helsinki, a mercenary opportunist, Arvo Maki, turns him over to the police for $5,000. Lanigan manages to escape and offers Arvo a much larger fee if he will find Weston. Arvo agrees and takes Lanigan to a nightclub in which Weston has an interest. There they meet Helvi, Weston's partner, and the club's attractive vocalist, Marja. She is won over to Lanigan's side and accompanies him when he confronts Weston at his hideout. Although Arvo intends to doublecross Lanigan again, he changes his mind when he learns that Weston is solely responsible for the swindle in America. As a result, Lanigan is able to clear his name, and Marja accompanies him on his return to the United States.
