Synopsis

In England, Jeanette Graham pleads unsuccessfully to keep her lover, Edward Fletcher, from leaving her and their little boy. When she learns that Fletcher has gone to America, she collapses but recovers and gets work to support herself and her child. In New York, Fletcher falls in with a crowd that includes Marion Walton, a student just finishing her studies at Yale. Marion accepts Fletcher's attentions and does not believe the accusations of her former suitor, Douglas Rhodes, a college student who has learned about Fletcher's past. When they decide to marry, Fletcher helps Marion's father with a loan. In London, Jeanette reads about the upcoming marriage, and at the wedding, she arrives and responds when the minister asks if there is anyone present who objects to the union, by presenting her son. Brokenhearted, Marion returns her wedding gifts, and later weds Douglas, who pays back the money her father owes to Fletcher, who reconciles with Jeanette and his son.
