Synopsis

Capt. David Foster is the commander of a British destroyer which has been chosen to test the firing of a new acoustic torpedo. When it misfires, the Admiralty sends a Scottish scientist to investigate. The torpedo plans, however, are not available: one copy has been burned, and another borrowed by a U. S. naval officer. To prevent Admiral Pettigrew from learning of the missing plans, Blissworth, a seaman with some knowledge of electronics, is disguised as the scientist, and copies of the ship's refrigeration system are substituted for the torpedo plans. Later, when it is learned that famous scientist Agatha Potter has also been assigned to the investigation, Blissworth is hastily dressed in women's clothes and succeeds in persuading Miss Potter to try his theories for modifying the torpedo while the real torpedo plans are being located. The results, however, are disastrous, and both Captain Foster and Blissworth are promptly returned to civilian life.
