Synopsis
Dolly Morton, a salesgirl in a New York department store, like her sophisticated roommate Maisie Duncan, maintains high ideals regarding men; and among her many admirers she prefers Jimmie Hayes for his clean-cut and engaging manner. His persistence pays off when she accepts a dinner invitation, and after a movie he takes her to her boardinghouse; the presence of a gossipy boarder forces her to admit Jimmie to her room, where his feeling overcomes his judgment, and she denounces him. At the insistence of Maisie, Dolly determines to use men to her advantage and accepts an expensive Park Avenue apartment from millionaire Frank Stanton. Dolly begins to cultivate the attentions of young Robert Crane, an aristocratic gentleman, while working as a mannequin, but he loses all respect for her upon finding her in a luxury flat; realizing the distastefulness of her position, Dolly finds happiness with Jimmie, whom she loves.
