Synopsis
Sylvia Joy, a popular and beautiful cabaret dancer, refuses the suit of an influential theatrical producer, John Benton, and marries instead John Warding, a promising young actor. Benton hopes to break up the marriage and secretly spreads false rumors about Sylvia's fidelity that cause Warding to become jealous and inattentive to his work. As a result of his poor performances, Warding's show fails, and he finds it impossible to find work. Refusing to live off her earnings, Warding leaves Sylvia. Living in a cheap boardinghouse, Warding becomes friends with Nan Hartley, and Benton informs Sylvia that John has been unfaithful to her. Feeling himself a failure, John is on his way to ask Sylvia for a divorce when he is run down by a taxi. Nan is a witness to the accident, and she goes for Sylvia, who she finds is about to consent to Benton's offer of marriage. Sylvia rushes to Warding's bedside, and they are reconciled.
