Synopsis

While at work in the hardware section of a large New York department store, Linnie Randall longs aloud for just one week of real pleasure. She is overheard by Garry Schuyler, the scion of an aristocratic family, who, as a lark, decides to grant her wish. They have a wonderful week together. When they are to part on the seventh day, they realize they are in love, and they immediately get married. Linnie then meets Garry's mother and sister, who disapprove of her and make her life miserable. When she overhears Garry's mother say that Garry's life has been ruined by marriage to a shopgirl, Linnie runs from the house. Garry chases her in a car and accidentally runs over her. Believing that she is dead, he becomes mentally ill and is taken to Europe for a cure by his family. Linnie recovers and supports herself by dancing in a cabaret. When Garry returns, he discovers that not only is Linnie alive but that she is also the mother of a child. Finding her, he saves her from the legal chicanery of his family and the unwanted advances of her dancing partner. Linnie and Garry are happily reunited.
