Synopsis

One night, out of the fog, a girl thrusts a bundle of papers and a slip of paper with a street address scribbled on it into the hands of Jimmie Hallet. Curious, Jimmie goes to the address where he is felled by a blackjack. Awakening the next morning, Jimmie discovers the dead body of Mr. Greye-Stratton and learns that the mysterious girl is Stratton's daughter Peggy. Questioned by the police about the identity of the girl, Jimmie refuses to cooperate and instead responds to a note from Peggy, instructing him to go to Gwennie Lyne's house. Intent upon discovering Peggy's motives, Jimmie arrives at the house where he falls through a trap door into the cellar. After a series of events, Jimmie finally discovers that Peggy was protecting her brother, a member of the gang of crooks led by Ling, and that Ling's henchmen, Dago Sam and Cincinatti Red, were the real murderers. Thus freed from Ling's clutches, Peggy rushes into Jimmie's waiting arms.
