Synopsis

When Henry de Spain becomes general manager of the Thief River Stage Line, he enters into battle with the Morgan gang, a notorious band of robbers who have been victimizing the stage. De Spain fearlessly enters the gang's headquarters and arrests Sassoon, one of the leaders, but the sheriff fears reprisals and allows him to escape. In retaliation, de Spain is ambushed by the gang and seriously wounded. He wanders to Music Mountain where he meets Nan, the daughter of old Morgan himself, who nurses him back to health and then helps him to escape. Morgan, learning of this, orders Nan to marry Gale Morgan, a cousin. Nan writes for help to de Spain, who braves risking death to rescue her. In the ensuing battle, Sassoon is killed and with his death, a reconciliation between the Morgans and de Spain is effected.

Notes

The novel was first serialized in Everybody's Magazine. It was rumored in trade publications that Cecil B. DeMille had a hand in staging the blizzard scenes in this film, although existing studio records can neither confirm nor deny his participation.
