Synopsis
Lew, a philandering, debonair braggart, invites his partner, Walter, and Walter's wife, Claire, to dine with him. Walter falls asleep during the meal, and Lew and Claire go dancing on a nearby roof garden; Jonsey, an out-of-town buyer and one of Lew and Walter's best customers, sees Lew dancing with Claire, and the next day Walter hears office gossip that mistakenly makes him believe his wife has been unfaithful to him. Lew again invites them to dinner, and Walter pretends to fall asleep on the couch; Lew attempts to kiss Claire, and she fends him off with her fists. With his faith in Claire renewed, Walter bullwhips Lew and returns home with Claire.
