Synopsis

Howard Crandall, Jr., son of a wealthy family, forms a secret society in Paris after the war, composed of men who have been facially marred in military action. Crandall, Jr., who has been afraid to inform his father or his sweetheart, Muriel Stanley, of his disfigurement, decides at last to go home. Although shocked at his appearance, they try to make him happy. He is revolted by Muriel's pity; and when Arthur Wells, a persistent admirer in Howard's absence, calls and receives Muriel's intimate greeting, Howard seeks out Bert, an old Army buddy, and they go on a spree. Howard finds some satisfaction in reuniting Bert with his girl, Clara; but on returning home in a drunken state, he releases Muriel altogether. Thinking he does not love her, Muriel accepts Wells; and Howard returns to his comrades in Paris. But as a result of Clara's intervention, Muriel learns the truth and follows him to Paris. ...
