Jet-setter Alexandra Borovski is a well-paid fashion model who drifts aimlessly from one affair to another, while secretly desiring to settle down with one man. Traveling through Europe, Alexandra is unable to establish a lasting relationship; her stay in Berlin is a typical stopover. In addition to having affairs with Siegbert Lahner, a businessman, and Timo, an Italian bisexual photographer, she becomes drawn to Lahner's employer, architect Joachim Steigenwald, whom she once met briefly in Rome. Joachim loves her and hopes he can persuade her to marry him, but they separate, Joachim returning to Hildchen, his sometime fiancée, while Alexandra moves on to her next assignment.
